The Environment Agency is due to start maintenance work on the Leominster Flood Alleviation Scheme at Osborne Place on 1 October 2013.
To ensure public safety, Herefordshire Council has issued a footpath closure notice on behalf of the Environment Agency starting 1 October. The work is expected to take six weeks depending on conditions. The footpath will be reopened for public use when conditions allow.
The flood alleviation scheme is a flood defence wall that runs along the North East bank of the River Kenwater, at the boundary of the properties on Osborne Place.
Councillor Russell B Hamilton, Herefordshire Council’s cabinet member for environment, housing and planning said: “I am pleased to see that essential maintenance is being undertaken by the Environment Agency in Leominster in order to ensure that flood protection measures in the area continue to provide the very best level of defence. This is another example of the significant investment that goes into providing and maintaining flood protection within the county and I would like to thank the Environment Agency and their staff for the work that they do on behalf of our communities.”
