On 3rd of October, under the witness of consultant firm and clients’ representatives, the installation of the first longitudinal beam of Nacala Coal Terminal Project in Mozambique was successfully completed.
This prefabricated longitudinal beam is 19.2 meters long and weighs 50.8 tons. It took about an hour to complete the installation, marking the official start of construction of this Project’s superstructure.
The Nacala Coal Terminal Project in Mozambique is the key part of the Nacala Corridor Project of Brazil Companhia Vale do Rio Doce, acting as a significant hub for the export of coal in Mozambique. Its completion will greatly promote Mozambique’s economic development, so the owner and the local society attach great importance to it.
With outstanding HSE management, project implementation capacity and teamwork ability, CHEC was trusted and affirmed, which in turn strengthened its status in the local market and helped to improve its brand reputation.
The contract for this Project was signed in September of 2012, saying the contract amount wasover $700 million and the time limit for this Project was 24 months. According to this contract, an approach embankment which is 550m long and 18m wide, an approach bridge which is 776 m long and 16m wide, a coal terminal which is 435m long and 22m wide and the foundation of belt conveyor equipment are required to be completed within this period of time.
