USACE Norfolk District is seeking interested firms capable of performing environmental dredging and dredged material handling of dense non-aqueous phase liquid (DNAPL) creosote contaminated sediments at the Atlantic Wood Industries Superfund Site located on the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River in Portsmouth, Virginia.
Approximately 330,000 cubic yards of contaminated sediments are anticipated to be mechanically dredged, amended with Portland cement, and consolidated in two on-site designated containment areas.
The designated containment areas are behind the recently constructed Offshore Sheet Pile Containment Wall at the dredging site and an upland containment area which is located approximately 0.5 miles west of the dredging site.
The project is expected to be completed in phases and contract duration is estimated to be three years. The magnitude of construction is estimated to be between $25M to $100M.
