Operation at Tacloban Port gets another boost after oil giant Pilipinas Shell donates P6 million to be used at the port in the next six months.

It maybe recalled that two weeks ago, private port operator International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) agreed to run Tacloban port using their own equipment for P1 for at least six months.

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Juan C. Sta. Ana, Pilipinas Shell Chair Edgar O. Chua and ICTSI Vice President for Asia Christian R. Gonzalez will sign today a Memorandum of Undertaking to finalize and seal this arrangement.

“This is really a big boost for Tacloban port particularly now that we are gearing the port to become the ‘relief hub’ after the repacking centers in Manila were already closed, ” Sta. Ana explained.

“In a situation like this, sustainability is key and with ICTSI and Shell lending their helping hands guarantees that, thus, accelerating our ability to quickly recover from the damaged brought about by typhoon Yolanda ,” concluded Sta. Ana.
