The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, has presented a plan for the hurricane storm damage risk reduction project from New Orleans to Venice.
The work consists of dredging a new bypass channel, construction of a new flood gate structure with associated mechanical and electrical systems, new storage platform and new floodwall with riprap berms and embankments.
This contract also includes construction of a new channel with riprap erosion protection, new guide wall and impact dolphins, new rock dike, demolition of existing guide wall and existing flood gate electrical and mechanical systems and furnishing a steel needle panel dewatering system.
The total value is between $25 mln and $100 mln, and the estimated time for completion is 1030 days.
The proposals due date is anticipated to be on or about 27 March 2014.
