The Baku International Sea Trade Port terminal will be relocated to a new address by the end of July this year, reports abc.az.

The Ministry of Transport decided that the new location for this terminal will be in Alyat settlement.

These works are ongoing, said Musa Panakhov, the Deputy Minister of Transport , and added: “ I think we will complete the works on moving the port from Baku to Alyat in accordance with the mentioned schedule. ”

The container terminal is currently located on the territory of the Main Cargo Terminal area and is designed for handling of all kinds of containers.

The terminal is equipped with modern cargo handling facilities, such as Kalmar container forklift with lifting capacity of 42 t and Kalmar reach stacker with lifting capacity of 40 t, 2 Terberg terminal tractors, 6 Planmarine trailers, 3 Hyster small forklifts.

“ It’s well known that the construction of this port is directly connected with Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and the capacities of the port facilities should be able to provide transfer of the expected volumes of container cargo from the East. That is why our main task is to bring the activities of the container terminal to conformity with the international standards ,” concluded Panakhov.
