The Port of Newport has seen productive results from channel dredging at the NOAA MOC-P wharf this year.
From January 6 until February 21, 2014, the Army Corps of Engineers removed over 7,000 cubic yards of material from the upper channel near the turning basin.
Newport is budgeted for twenty-one days of dredging next season, and it is also possible that state funding will allow the Corps to concentrate even more on the upper channel and turning basin.
