The Folly Beach replenishment program is moving ahead.

The dredge pumps began pouring sand in January on the far eastern edge of the island toward the Morris Island Lighthouse.

“June is still our goal, in a perfect world. We just want to make sure we’re done by the fourth of July weekend, ” said David Warren, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project manager in the Charleston District .

The federal government paid for 85 percent of the project, while the city of Folly Beach paid for the rest.
