An Athens, Ga., native and University of Georgia alumna has been named the Chief of Civil Works Programs and Project Management for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District.

Margarett (Mackie) McIntosh, who graduated from UGA with a Bachelor of Science in geology in 1999, will assume her new role in mid-April.

In addition to her UGA education, she also holds a Master of Science in geology from the University of Utah.

As the new civil works chief, McIntosh will oversee the budgeting and project management of the Corps’ Savannah District civil works program, which includes maintenance dredging of the Savannah and Brunswick harbors; Tybee Island beach re-nourishments; the Savannah Harbor Expansion Project (SHEP); and other water resource development projects in Georgia and portions of South Carolina.
