The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, extended the public scoping period for the Boise River Feasibility Study. Study planners added 30 days to the scoping period, which now runs from April 24 to June 23.
The Corps and the Idaho Water Resources Board (IWRB) conducted a series of scoping meetings May 6-8 in Boise, Idaho City, Caldwell and Garden City to support the Boise River Feasibility Study and Environmental Impact Statement. The IWRB is the non-federal sponsor for the study, which will focus on ways to reduce flood risk, and meet current and future water supply in the lower Boise River watershed.
The study will also seek to provide ancillary ecosystem-restoration benefits, while minimizing socioeconomic effects and impacts to sensitive species.
The Corps and IWRB are seeking public input regarding the scope of study alternatives and analyses to consider throughout the feasibility study process and preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
