Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado lauded farmers and fisherfolk in the Bulacan province, calling them “strong” and “resilient” despite the challenges poised by the ill effects of global warming and climate change.
“ The role of our farmers and fishermen is indeed vital to our lives. If there is wealth that our country could be proud of, it is valuable contribution of the agricultural sector ,” Alvarado said.
The governor also said that he is pushing for long-term solution to address the perennial shortage of irrigation water every time the dry spell hit the country.
He earlier proposed the massive dredging of the Angat dam reservoir to increase its water holding capacity and the conversion of the Bayabas river, which captures rain water from the Sierra Madre mountain range that snakes through Bustos dam, the auxiliary rubber dam that provides irrigation to farmlands in Bulacan and Pampanga.
