Poor Weather Impacts Folly Beach Renourishment Project

The strong winds which create waves over eight feet tall are having a large impact on the Folly Beach renourishment project.

The project which began in January is expected to be finalized by the end of June, News2 reports.

1.5 million cubic yards of sand will be dredged from the seafloor and placed along the coast for 5.34 miles of beach to be renourished.

The project will cover the area all the way to the end of the beach at Folly Beach County Park.

The total value of the Folly Beach renourishment project is around $30.7 million.
