The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host an informational session about its regulatory program on June 23 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Dreamcatcher Bed and Breakfast in Craig, Alaska.
This event should be particularly meaningful for landowners, contractors, businesses and others interested in the Corps’ regulatory responsibilities and services.
Discussion topics will cover work and activities that require a permit; types of permits; how to apply for permits, including required application information, wetland delineations, laws and regulations; and the value of early coordination and planning.
The meeting also will provide an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions, as well as engage in one-on-one dialogue with Corps representatives.
The venue for this event is located at 1405 E. Hamilton Drive.
The Corps’ regulatory program evaluates permit applications for most construction activities occurring in wetlands, streams and related waters of the United States. It is committed to maintaining and restoring the nation’s aquatic resources, while allowing reasonable development through fair, flexible and balanced permit decisions.
Under Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899, a permit is required for work or structures in, over or under navigable waters of the United States. Under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, a permit is required for the discharge of dredged or fill material into waters of the United States.
