Delta Marine Consultants has recently signed a license agreement with L & M Keating Ltd. for the application of Xbloc armour units in Cape Clear, Ireland.
The Xblocs will be applied in the new development project at the Cape Clear harbour, located at Clear Island on the south side of Ireland.
This development program is part of a €4M harbour protection project involving the installation of 12x8m hydraulic mitred storm gates, reconfiguration of pier heads and installation of armoured revetment.
Xbloc is an interlocking armour unit designed to protect breakwaters and shores over the long term and in extreme conditions. This armour unit is a simple, robust and reliable single layer concrete armour unit without reinforcement.
It has considerable structural integrity as an individual element and has great hydraulic stability in the armour layer.
This is the fourth Xbloc project in Ireland.
