The project for construction of the deep-water berth 1-e, behind which the Brooklyn-Kiev company’s grain transshipment complex with a capacity of 4.5 million tons is being built, will be implemented in 2015.

The head of the Administration of Seaports of Ukraine (ASU), Andrii Amelin , announced this on July 29th during the signing of a loan agreement between Brooklyn-Kyiv, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the Louis Dreyfus Commodities company, reported CFTS.

According to Amelin, government appraisal of the project was completed in February this year. “ The circumstances in the country have slowed the processes of announcement of a tender and approval of financial plans and titles by the Cabinet of Ministers. Work on these is currently underway. I hope that we will secure approval of this work, announce a tender, and begin work in the coming month. New contractors will be selected via a tender ,” said Amelin.

According to the head of the ASU, the water depth at the berth will be 12 meters during the first phase of the project, increasing to 13 meters subsequently. According to data published on the website of the Odessa port authority, the operating length of the berth will be 254 meters.
