The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has allocated approx. $2.2 million to undertake dredging project at the newly-expanded portion of the Port of Zamboanga wharf.
With the depth of only 2.4 meters, the newly-expanded area of the wharf is not able to accommodate large vessels. Because of this, PPA has decided to dredge the place to a depth of 11 meters.
According to the Port Manager, Eng’r. Liberto Dela Rosa, “ the dredging project would cover an area of more than 170 meters wide. ”
This dredging project, with the duration of 225 days, is expected to begin by December this year.
