The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, has announced an investment of $12 million for construction work on the Queen’s Wharf at the Canadian Coast Guard base in Quebec.

The work will involve rebuilding piers 97 and 98 of the Queen’s Wharf, which have reached the end of their operational life.

This project will allow the Canadian Coast Guard to more effectively ensure safety and security in Canadian waters and meet its current and future needs.

“ Maintaining operations and services at the Canadian Coast Guard base in Québec has always been critical to the Government of Canada. This major investment demonstrates the importance the Government places on the safety and security of Canadian waters, especially on the St. Lawrence. It will allow for continued and improved icebreaker and search and rescue services, while offering support to the Port of Québec in accommodating cruise ships as needed, ” Lebel stated.
