Central Marina Dredging About to Begin

Transformation is underway in the eastern corner of the Central Marina as the Port of Everett’s major environmental cleanup at the former Everett Shipyard site moves forward. Transformation is underway in the eastern corner of the Central Marina as the Port of Everett’s major environmental cleanup at the former Everett Shipyard site moves forward.

Crews have begun vibratory sheet pile installation for the new bulkhead. Dredging is scheduled to begin in early-October.

Construction activity will continue through 2014, and is expected to wrap up in April 2015.

Completed tasks:

• 220 creosote piles removed;

• L, M and N docks removed;

• Marine railway removed;

• 14th Street Haulout removed;

• 14th Street closed; access is available via Port Gardner Way (formerly 13th Street).
