A re-elected Napthine Government will invest more than $500,000 to make Carrum Beach an even better destination for families, recreational boaters, swimmers and fishing enthusiasts.
Premier Denis Napthine was today joined by Member for Carrum Donna Bauer at the Carrum foreshore to announce a $540,000 funding commitment to deliver a coastal infrastructure upgrade program.
“ This upgrade will ensure improved access to the foreshore, a link from the beach to Patterson River, and new or repaired rock walls, ” Dr Napthine said.
A re-elected Victorian Coalition Government will invest $540,000 to:
– improve pathways;
– connect existing Carrum boardwalks to the Patterson River Trail;
– repair the rock wall at the entrance to the Patterson River; and
– put in place a rock wall on the Carrum foreshore at the Patterson River Motor Club.
Ms Bauer said the works were great news for the people of Carrum.
“ It will be great to see the rock wall at the opening of the Patterson River repaired, and local boaters and fishermen provided with much better access, ” Ms Bauer said.
“ This announcement is on top of more than $1 million in Coalition Government funding over four years in Carrum, which has delivered the construction of the seawall, berthing upgrades, the development of the Patterson River Master Plan and the beach car park works.”
Minister for Environment and Climate Change Ryan Smith said the announcement was another example of how the Coalition Government continues to invest to protect coastal areas.
“The Coalition Government over four years has invested more than $44 million in the protection of coastal assets, beach renourishment, park rejuvenation and access works, ” Mr Smith concluded.
