Director of Dredgers’ Administration with the Suez Canal Authority, Ahmed Sayed Ahmed, stated recently that the project of digging the New Suez Canal so far underwent several stages, including designing, dry digging and dredging.
Ahmed added that the dredging stage reached 9 meters depth, as about 20,000 cubic meters are currently being dredged per day in the new Suez Canal. He pointed out that dredgers on the project are working 24 hours a day.
The New Suez Canal project will boost Egypt’s economy and help speed up the movement of vessels through the 193 km long canal, which connects the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea.
