The Washington Department of Ecology is seeking comment on amendments to Douglas County’s shoreline master program that incorporate recent changes to critical areas regulations and the county’s comprehensive plan.
Proposed changes modify regulations related to boat mooring, common line setbacks, and view corridors. Revisions to the mooring section require piers, ramps, and floats to be consistent with state and federal standards without including specific local requirements.
Revisions to setback requirements will allow developers to build according to a common setback distance established by neighboring buildings. Standards related to maintenance and access to shoreline views will be brought into line with current codes.
These minor changes will affect how Douglas County administers its shoreline master program and are based on experience gained implementing the existing program, which was comprehensively updated in 2009.
Washington DOE will accept comments on the proposed limited amendments through November 13, 2014.
