The Department of Primary Industries (DEPI) is about to carry out dredging works near shore area of the Sorrento front beach, announced today the Victorian Regional Channels Authority.

The dredge zone will extend up to 90 meters from the shoreline between the Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club jetty and the Baths jetty.

Dredging will be undertaken by means of a vessel-mounted cutter suction pump. Dredged material will be used to renourish the adjacent beach area.

On-water plant, equipment and potential hazards to navigation arising from the works will be marked by yellow triangular buoys and lit as per IALA standards with characteristics.

Mariners are advised to exercise caution and proceed at a safe speed when navigating within the vicinity of the dredging works.
