The Environmental Management Division of the Los Angeles Harbor Department and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have prepared a joint Notice of Intent/Notice of Preparation (NOI/NOP) for the proposed Everport container terminal improvement project at Berths 226-236 at the Port of Los Angeles.

The Notice of Intent/Notice of Preparation is the first step in the Environmental Impact Statement/Environmental Impact Report (EIS/EIR) process. It is a document stating that an EIS/EIR will be prepared for a particular project. The NOI/NOP is released for public review to solicit feedback. This feedback helps identify the potential environmental impacts and project alternatives to be addressed in the EIS/EIR.

The proposed project at the existing Everport terminal would include dredging, disposal of dredged material, the addition of three gantry cranes, backland development and other improvements.

A public scoping meeting will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 6 p.m. in the Board Room of the Harbor Administration Building, 425 S. Palos Verdes Street, San Pedro, California.

Comments on the NOI/NOP will be received through November 24, 2014.
