Dredging operations on the River Ant, aimed to restore navigation and the river depth, are scheduled to begin in early December, according to the Broads Authority.

According to the Broads latest notice, dredging operations on the River Ant between How Hill and Barton Broad may restrict passage during week days from Monday 1 December 2014 until Friday 27 March 2015.

During this period dredging will be in operation between 08:00 and 16:00 daily, excluding weekends. During each period of operation delays of up to 1 hour may occur. Mariners must await clear instructions from the dredging crew before attempting to pass.

All equipment will be lit and signage will be in place to warn of restriction and delays.

The River Ant has been navigable for many centuries, it connected Dilham and North Walsham to the River Bure, creating a direct link to the sea at Great Yarmouth. Today the river is very popular and is an important part of the Norfolk Broads network.
