A development application has been lodged with Bega Valley Shire Council that proposes a major marina development in Eden.

The application comes after a recent amendment to the Bega Valley Local Environmental Plan that enabled the waters of Cattle Bay and Snug Cove to come under Council’s local planning provisions.

The NSW Minister for Planning has also ordered that Cattle Bay and Snug Cove waters be included within the Bega Valley Local Government Area boundaries.

Eden Resort Hotel Pty Ltd lodged the application with Council on 29 October 2014 and is seeking approval of a 154 berth marina.

Council’s Group Manager, Planning and Environment, Andrew Woodley , said the $5.5 million proposal is nominated as Regional Development under the applicable state environmental planning policy.

“ This means that Council’s planning staff will undertake public consultation and assessment of the proposal and will present a report to the Southern Region Planning Panel for determination ,” he said.

The application will be on public exhibition for 30 days from 13 November 2014.
