The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, recently awarded a $10 million contract for the Tybee Island shoreline project that will provide greater protection against future storms and reinforce the beach at this coastal Georgia community with additional sand.
Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company of Oak Brook, Illinois, won the contract, under which approximately 1.3 million cubic yards of sand will be added to approximately 3 miles of beach front from the north beach near Old Fort Screven to 18th Street.
