Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is inviting people to a drop in session to hear the latest updates on the work to build a new flood defense scheme in Dolgellau.

Since work began on the scheme in late September, the project has passed its first major milestone with the removal of the Aran Weir. Work is now underway to construct a new flood wall – approximately a mile long – along the boundary of the Marian Mawr car park, between the Enterprise Park and the school playing field.

The project will also see some of the existing flood walls on the left bank of the River Wnion upgraded and the existing flood walls on the River Aran refurbished.

Once complete, this will provide improved flood protection for more than 300 homes and businesses in the area. This will be discussed at the drop in session, which will take place on Thursday 4 December at Dolgellau Library, between the hours of 2pm – 7pm.
