Dredging operations have began at Kwai Tsing Container Terminals 1, 2, 5 and 9 and will be performed over the next six months, reported Marine Department of the HKSAR.

The works will be carried out by a grab dredger, two tug boats, four hopper barges and one motor survey boat. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.

According to the departments Notice NO. 154, working area of approximately 50 meters around the grab dredger will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the grab dredger.

Vessels engaged in the operations will work round-the-clock and display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.
