The West Bay dredging program will take place on Monday 8 December and Tuesday 9 December, according to West Dorset District Council.

Recent weather/sea conditions have led to a significant build up of beach material along the west end of East Beach, West Bay.

The build up has been so great that material has now started to wash into the outer harbor and is threatening to close off the inner harbor.

With assistance from the Environment Agency, West Dorset District Council is looking to remove the sand bar from the outer harbor, restoring the navigable channel.

Material will be loaded into dump trucks using a long reach excavator and then taken around the harbor and placed on West Beach where it will help to provide flood/coast protection.
