Black Sand Dredging in Cagayan Stopped

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region- 2 (MGB R02) through MGB Regional Director Mario Ancheta confirmed that black sand dredging along the shorelines of Cagayan province has been stopped. Ancheta ordered the former black sand dredging permitees to conduct rehabilitation efforts in mining areas. H

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region- 2 (MGB R02) through MGB Regional Director Mario Ancheta confirmed that black sand dredging along the shorelines of Cagayan province has been stopped.

Ancheta ordered the former black sand dredging permitees to conduct rehabilitation efforts in mining areas.

He said that the mining companies should free the area with its dredging equipment.

“ By the end of 2014, we hope to see no traces of their operations ,” Ancheta said referring to 10 China based mining firms whose permits were canceled last September this year by the MGB.
