Royal HaskoningDHV’s Director for Coastal and Marine Environment, Nicola Clay, will chair a seminar on ‘ Future Trends in Dredging ’ at the Institution of Civil Engineers in London today.
The seminar will bring together industry experts to look forward to 2015 and beyond to identify key trends and initiative that may affect the dredging industry. The event is hosted by the Central Dredging Assocation (CEDA). Nicola is currently chair of CEDA (British Section).
Infrastructure projects across different sectors are an important part of the recovery of the UK economy. CEDA expert speakers will discuss how the availability of dredgers to the UK market is influenced by demand from projects internationally, how the timescale for the planning and design of ships affects the dredging and construction of ports and how taking a different approach to supplying marine aggregates could lead to a greater use in projects inland from the water’s edge.
Guest speakers include Chris Lomax, Head of Ports and Marine at Parsons Brinckeroff, and Paul Hesk, Regional Manager at Van Oord UK.
Nicola Clay said, “ We are looking forward to hearing from expert speakers about what the plan-led licensing regime means in practice for maintenance and capital dredging projects, as well as the implications of the push to a low-carbon economy for the dredging industry.”
CEDA is the only independent, international, professional association in Africa, Europe, or the Middle-East whose sole interest is dredging and marine construction.
