Jan De Nul Group’s new multipurpose vessel Isaac Newton, currently under construction in Pula, will be delivered mid-2015, the company announced on its official facebook page.

A group of Belgian students recently paid a visit to the shipyard and witnessed the construction process.

About the vessel

– In the Cable Laying mode, the vessel can install up to 11,000 ton of cable and is thereto equipped with 7,400 ton capacity turntable above deck and a 4,500 ton capacity turntable below deck along with two tensioners of 20 ton or as required by the project, chute and auxiliary equipment.

– In the Subsea Rock Installation mode, the vessel can install up to 10,000 ton of rock in a single load by using the aft stone hopper with a capacity of 3,000 ton and the midship hopper with a capacity of 7,000 ton along with the two excavators and the fall pipe for accurate rock installation at up to 200 m water depth.

– In the Combi Cable Laying/Trenching and Offshore Support Vessel/Subsea Rock Installation mode any combination of the above is possible up to the carrying capacity of the vessel.
