Senator Jennifer Beck (R-Monmouth), Monmouth County Freeholder Tom Arnone, and Neptune Township Committeeman Randy Bishop have announced the following statements on the future of the Shark River dredging project.
“ 2015 will prove to be the year we see movement on the Shark River dredging project, ” said Beck. “ I have been successful in securing a commitment from the State to fund this project, but the lack of a temporary drying site stopped progress. Working with NJDEP and NJDOT over the course of the last year, we believe we have come up with an innovative way to deal with this issue, which will be rolled out this year.”
“ This is a project that has been much needed, but stalled for the better part of two decades because of issues with finding a suitable temporary drying site, ” Arnone explained, a former Neptune City Mayor. “With cooperation from the State, we believe that an equitable solution for all parties is on the horizon and the project will begin to move forward.”
Committeeman Randy Bishop concluded: “ It has been a long wait, but with the help of the County and State administrations, we have been able to come up with outside of the box solutions to help this project finally take shape. It is a very exciting time for residents who enjoy the Shark River, and a long time coming.”
