Navigational dredging operations are currently underway in the Diversion Canal between channel markers 30 and 32, where the Diversion Canal enters Lake Moultrie.

In keeping with the terms of the federal license, Santee Cooper has contracted with a dredging company to remove approximately 100,000 yards of sediment in the Diversion Canal. Dredge work will be conducted day and night and will continue through February 2015.

Boaters are urged to use caution, to maintain a safe distance from the work zone established by the contractor, and to be mindful of their wake as they pass through the work zone.

The Diversion Canal is located between lakes Marion and Moultrie in the Cross/Pineville area of Berkeley County. Dredging of the Diversion Canal was last conducted in 1988.
