Minister for the Environment and Member for Bellarine, Lisa Neville, today announced that construction work will commence on the $15 million redevelopment of Portarlington Pier.

Works on stage 1 of the $15 million Portarlington Safe Harbor development are expected to start in the first week of February, with completion of the new pier by mid-2015.

Parks Victoria has appointed PW Johnson Construction Pty Ltd to build the new 175-meter pier.

“ I have worked with the community for over six years to get this project off the ground. The project will support local jobs during construction and it will anchor the Bay’s thriving aquaculture industry to the Bellarine Peninsula, ” the Minister for the Environment and the Member for Bellarine, Lisa Neville said.

Pedestrian and aquaculture industry access to the pier will be maintained throughout the project. Short term closures will protect visitor and contractor safety when equipment is being moved around the construction area.
