The Port of Luanda dredging program is nearing its completion, announced Sogester – Terminal Management Company SA.

Due to the development of the port sector, Sogester decided to invest in dredging, aiming to achieve an 11.7 meters pier depth.

This dredging scheme started on December 26, 2014, and the completion is scheduled for mid-February.

To date, the dredging vessel Quissanga, owned by an Angolan company Draimair, has removed over 15,000 m³ of material from the mentioned area.

Background

Sogester is an Angolan company, the result of a partnership between a Danish company and an Angolan company.

In October 2007, the Government of Angola awarded the grant in order to manage the container terminal II at the Port of Luanda.

On November 5, 2007, the Sogester took over management of Container Terminal II, following the signing of the concession contract with the Port of Luanda, EP with a duration of 20 years.
