Following the arrival of Jan De Nul’s cutter suction dredger ‘Niccolo Machiavelli’ on January 2, the Takoradi Port dredging program is already 75 percent complete.

This dredging scheme, which will pave the way for other development projects to follow, is on track for completion by late March or early April 2015.

When fully finished, the dredging project will increase the depth of water from current 11 meters to 16 meters enabling the port to handle panamax vessels.

The Takoradi Port Expansion Project includes construction of 1.1 km of additional breakwater, the port deepening and the construction of a 300 m long and 16 m deep bulk quay wall.
