The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) announced that the Port of Zamboanga dredging project is scheduled to begin by the second quarter of this year.

This dredging project will cover the expanded portion of the port which has a length of 170 meters and the project has already been awarded to a contractor who won the bidding.

Port Manager Liberto Dela Rosa said that only small vessels can dock at the port’s area at the moment.

The Zamboanga dredging program will last about eight month, and once the dredging project is completed, the port will be able to accommodate more large vessels at the same time, added Dela Rosa.
