The major maintenance dredging project is about to begin in the Port Melbourne Channel.

The project will be carried out in the South Channel West, South East Dredged Material Ground and North Port Phillip including river Yarra, Williamstown Channel and Port Melbourne Channel.

The dredging works will be conducted by TSHD Brisbane on a 24 hours/7 basis, according to the Port of Melbourne notice.

All dredged material will be transferred to the Port of Melbourne Dredged Material Ground located in Port Phillip throughout the period of operation. Works are scheduled to conclude on or about 15 June 2015.

The trailing suction hopper dredger Brisbane is one of the largest dredgers of its type based in Australia. Equipped with the latest state-of-the-art automation control and navigation systems, it is capable of performing capital and maintenance dredging in accordance with latest environmental standards.
