The Second International Forum of Dredging Companies was held with great success last Thursday, February 19th 2015, at the St. Regis Moscow, Russia.

The II Moscow Dredging Forum was organized by the “ PortNews ” Media-Group with FSUE Rosmorport as a General Partner and Van Oord as a General Sponsor.

Major dredging companies like Van Oord, Mordraga (DEME), Boskalis, DAMEN, Jan de Nul, took part at the event.

At the forum, specialists from around the world shared their expertise in the industry covering new dredging technologies, construction of state-of-the-art dredging equipment, implementation of certain projects in Russia and other countries including the Arctic project of Sabetta Port, with a special attention given to dredging of Russian rivers.

For one year only, in 2015, Russia is planning to dredge approximately 31 mln cbm of soil, executing projects such as port Sabetta, outer port Bronka (Saint-Petersburg), construction of a coal terminal of SDS-Ugol (Sukhodol Bay), seaport Gelendzhik, Spetsmornefteport Kozmino (port Vostochny) etc.

The volume of maintenance dredging is also significant with some 12 mln cbm planned for 2015 and additional 26 mln cbm for the next two years. This will include dredging of the Baltic Basin, Arctic Basin, Southern Basin and the Far East Basin.

With numerous participants and a great program, the event once again proved to be a great source of information and sharing of good practice, bringing together the government representatives, foreign and domestic companies.
