According to the NSW Government, a $600,000 project to restore the Blacksmiths breakwater will start tomorrow.

Lands Minister Kevin Humphries stated this development scheme is “ an important investment in Lake Macquarie, a popular tourist destination.”

The breakwater project will last no longer than eight weeks, and during the work, access to the site will be restricted from 7am to 5pm weekdays, but open to the public outside these hours and at weekends, reports the Newcastle Herald.

The minister added that this program, which includes repair of the crest of the breakwater and the training wall, will complement the recently completed Swansea Channel dredging works.
