DHI – a global leader in marine, coastal and water science and sustainability – has joined the World Ocean Council.

The company is seeking to better engage in sustainable development and stewardship of the marine and coastal environment through collaboration with the diverse international ocean business leadership community formed by the WOC.

DHI is a key global player in solving challenges related to the world’s oceans through its marine solutions and MIKE Powered by DHI modelling software. The company’s membership in the WOC fits well with its efforts to help solve the world’s toughest challenges in water environments and will enable DHI to contribute to major commercial developments in relation to the sustainable use of the world’s oceans.

Andreas Brogaard Buhl, Head of the Ecology and Environment Department, DHI Denmark , stated: “ We will be part of the ocean business community in a new way. WOC Membership will enable us to engage even more with large private companies working at sea that want to reduce environmental risks and protect nature. Our knowledge and software can certainly help them achieve this.”

“ DHI and other solution providers are joining the WOC in order to better tackle the environment and sustainability issues associated with increased coastal and ocean development. The WOC provides a unique international, multi-sectoral forum to catalyze collaboration and leadership on addressing these challenges, ” added WOC Chief Executive Officer, Paul Holthus.
