Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is inviting local people to come along to a public drop in session to find out more about proposals to further reduce the risk of tidal flooding to communities along the Caldicot Levels.
The proposals will improve the defenses at Portland Grounds, near Magor and Undy, by raising approximately 2km of embankment and constructing small retaining walls where necessary.
Gareth O’Shea, Operations Manager for South East Wales, Natural Resources Wales said:
“ Flooding can cause severe damage to homes and is a distressing experience for people. The plans we have developed for the Portland Grounds at Magor and Undy will reduce the flood risk to a number of communities along the Caldicot Levels.
“ This drop in session is an opportunity for local people to find out more about the plans, give their comments and ask our staff any questions about their flood risk and how our improvements work will benefit them. ”
Natural Resources Wales is working with Welsh Government and Monmouthshire County Council to ensure these improvements deliver effective solutions to managing flood risk along the Caldicot Levels.
The drop in session will take place on Wednesday 11th March at the Magor Baptist Church from 2 – 7pm.
