Maldives Coastal Protection Contract Signed

Republic of Maldives’ Ministry of Environment and Energy has signed a contract with Sas e Sanok JV Private Limited for the construction of coastal protection structures for the islands of Kandoodhoo and Veymandoo in Thaa Atoll.

The contract was signed today by Thorig Ibrahim, the Minister of Environment and Energy, on behalf of the Government, and Saudhulla Ahmed, on behalf of the contractor party.

The projects, which will see the construction of a 700-meter structure on the eastern coast of Kandoodhoo and a 205-meter structure on the western coast of Veymandoo, should be completed in 240 days.

The Minister said that the efforts to protect many other islands facing erosion are ongoing.
