The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, has introduced a plan for maintenance dredging of the Detroit River near the outlet of the Huron River at Berlin Charter Township, Michigan.
The project will require removal of approximately 96,000 cubic yards of silt, sediment and associated material from the river bottom, and disposal of dredged material at the Pointe Mouillee Confined Disposal Facility.
This cleanup scheme also includes road grading and placement of additional road surface stone at the Disposal Facility, plus clearing and grubbing of surface vegetation on the Disposal Facility dike complex.
According to the Corps’ announcement, the tentative date for posting the solicitation is 8 May 2015, with the award of contract by the end of June 2015.
The estimated cost of the project is between $1 million and $5 million.
