The Alton City Council has given preliminary approval to Parrott Pointe Marine, Inc. to solicit bids for the Alton Marina dredging scheme, according to Alton Daily News.

The cleanup plan for the marina, operated by Parrot Pointe and located at MM 202, just north of the Melvin Price Lock and Dam, includes removal of accumulated silt in time for the busy season.

The last high water event of 2013 is where the problems began, according to Alton’s Director of Development and Housing Greg Caffey.

He added that occupancy is looking healthy for the 2015 season, with a waiting list for a large number of slips.
