The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, has announced the availability of the draft Finding of No Significant Impact and Draft Environmental Assessment of additional sand sources for the Lido Key Hurricane and Storm Damage Reduction Project in Sarasota County.

The Corps’ preferred alternative includes the use of material from the Big Sarasota Pass ebb shoal for placement on 2.4 miles of Lido Beach shoreline.

In addition to the open comment period through May 14, 2015, the Corps will host a public meeting (April 15, Sarasota City Hall, Florida) to offer an opportunity for input and to answer questions.
