Manson Construction’s clam-shell dredge “Njord” began, on March 26th, maintenance dredging at the Port of Anchorage’s terminal three.

Due to the warm winter, early dredging was required to maintain a project depth of minus 35 feet.

Regular annual operations will begin April 20 with Manson’s hopper dredge, the “Westport,” and will continue until November 2015.

Earlier in January, the company was awarded the 2015-2017 Port of Anchorage Maintenance Dredging project, an $8.5 million multi-year contract with options from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Alaska District.

The scope of work involves maintenance dredging of approximately 1,100,000 cubic yards of shoaled material annually from the port.
