The preparation works are currently underway for a reclamation and seawall construction project at the East of the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).

With effect from May 1st, 2015 and for a period of approximately 20 months, marine works involving reclamation, seawall construction, diving operations, sand filling and delivery of precast units and construction materials will be carried out within the mentioned area.

The works will be carried out by trailer suction hopper dredgers, barges, derrick lighters, grab dredgers, tugs and construction vessels at various stages. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.

These works are part of the Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities (HKBCF) project. The project involves reclamation of about 130 hectares of land from the open waters off the northeast of the Hong Kong International Airport and construction of a number of buildings and transport facilities on this artificial island to provide passenger and cargo clearance services.
