The Government of Ghana is working on a $150 million worth coastal protection projects that will deal with persistent tidal flooding and sea erosion problems of the country’s Western Region Districts.
The projects, being implemented by various contractors in Ahanta West, STMA and the Shama Districts, are funded by the government of Ghana.
Few days ago, Dr. Kwaku Agyeman Mensah, Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, together with Mr Hubert Wusuansa, the Acting Director of Hydrological Department visited the projects sites inspecting the progress being made on the works.
He was pleased with the work being done on various projects including Adjua’s new breakwater, New Takoradi one kilometer long sea defense project, the Aboadze project etc.
After the visit, the Minister said that the government will continue to invest in its coastal communities and their economy in order to ensure that lives and properties of the people living there are protected in the future.
